A harmonizer is similar to a pitch shifter in that an additional note can be added to each note that you play. What is unique about harmonisers is that they can be programmed to comply with the rules of functional harmony. This means that each interval is adjusted to fit within the key you select. Example 45aC major scale set to third above.
Setting a harmonizer to the interval of "3rd above" makes the C D and E notes into C, Dmin and Emin. Example 45b
Setting a harmonizer to the interval of "3rd below" makes the first 4 bars sound like the final 4 bars.
