A flanger is similar to a chorus effect in that they both use modulating delay. The difference is that a flanger uses a shorter delay time and repeats this signal which is known as regeneration or feedback. This exaggerates the up and down sweeping motion of the sound.

Variables for the flanger effect are speed which controls the rate of modulation, depth which changes the intensity of the flange, and regeneration which is the up and down motion of the flange. A flanger is often used in conjunction with other effects such as distortion. This is a very open sounding effect so try experimenting with other combinations.
